Previously a hit on Wavve, the critically acclaimed drama “Weak Hero Class 1” is now set for a worldwide release on Netflix. Starting April 25, the series will be available in over 190 countries, marking its entry into the global streaming market. With recent domestic hits like “When Life Gives You Tangerines“ dominating discussions, this gripping youth action drama is poised to make a strong impact on Netflix’s rankings.

Outstanding Achievements
According to global OTT content ranking site FlixPatrol on March 27, “Weak Hero Class 1”, which began streaming on Netflix on March 25, debuted at No. 3 in the global TV series category with a score of 589 points on its first day.
The series also claimed the No. 1 spot in two countries—Malaysia and Thailand—while securing No. 2 in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Additionally, it ranked No. 5 in the United States and No. 3 in South Korea.
A Gritty Story of Survival and Friendship
Adapted from the popular Naver webtoon, “Weak Hero Class 1” follows top student Yeon Si-eun as he teams up with Ahn Su-ho and Oh Beom-seok to stand against school violence. Unlike conventional high school dramas, the series delves into the harsh realities of adolescence, earning critical acclaim for its emotional depth.

Upon its initial release in 2022, the drama achieved a 45.5% platform share and a near-perfect 9.9 rating, solidifying its status as a fan favorite. Director Han Jun-hee described it as “a story that directly confronts the pain of youth.” Starring Park Ji-hoon, Choi Hyun-wook, and Hong Kyung, the cast’s intense performances further elevated its impact.
More Than Just a School Violence Drama

One of the show’s defining aspects is Yeon Si-eun’s “brain-powered action,” a refreshing departure from brute-force combat. His strategic fighting style, coupled with sleek action sequences, transforms the narrative into a psychological survival thriller rather than just another school drama. The dynamic between the lead trio, built on shared struggles and emotional depth, resonated deeply with audiences, earning them the nickname “Weak Hero Trio.”
Anticipation Builds for Season 2
As Netflix releases unseen stills and key moments, excitement is rising for “Weak Hero Class 1” to reach a global audience. This release comes at a crucial time, as Season 2 is set to premiere as a Netflix original later this year, further fueling anticipation.

Available on Netflix starting April 25, the drama is expected to draw in new viewers worldwide, with many watching to see if it can break into the platform’s top rankings and cement itself as the next major K-drama sensation.
